Live music from The Stagehands Wichita / Valley Center, Kansas
MUSIC: The stagehands play a variety of music, including bluegrass, folk, Irish, gospel, and country with a bit of ragtime and classical tossed in. From Wabash Cannonball to Irish Washerwoman, their blend of energetic vocals and hot instrumentals combine for a crowd-pleasing performance. Three young brothers form half of the band while their mother, Michelle Yoder, and dobro virtuoso, Bruce Johnson, complete the whole. The typical bluegrass instruments, bass, guitar, violin, and mandolin, as well as the dobro, are used to create the bulk of their music. Other featured instruments are the harmonica, clarinet, trumpet, flute, and percussion. The band can also get a crowd out of their chairs when the oldest Yoder boy, Chris, leads the group in contra dancing. His simple and clear instructions make learning the dances easy for all ages. No experience necessary!!
